Official Tournament Capital of Ontario Website, City of Brantford

OUR CITY

The City of Brantford was officially recognized as the "Tournament Capital of Ontario" in the Provincial Legislature on June 4, 1998.  Brantford is proud to boast that we are the birthplace of the "Great One" Wayne Gretzky and hometown of Walter Gretzky, the world's most famous hockey father.  Walter still calls Brantford his home and is a familiar face at numerous tournaments, community events and fundraisers.

Brantford is also known as the 'Telephone City' and home of the Bell Homestead National Historic Site that recognizes the outstanding achievements of Alexander Graham Bell.

The Grand River, one of only 37 designated Heritage Rivers in Canada, winds its way through our community offering a genuine wilderness experience in the heart of the city and offers some of the best fishing, paddling and hiking in southern Ontario.

Whether you’re coming to Brantford to participate in a sports event, planning a day trip or visiting for the weekend, Brantford has something for everyone.
