Athlete of the Week - 2004


    Ali Dzikowski - February 26, 2004

    This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Ali Dzikowski, a 13-year-old Grade 8 student at Ryerson Public School.

    Ali excels at basketball. At 13 years old, she has been playing for the past eight years, winning a total of 30 medals, 10 of which are gold.

    Ali has been playing for Brantford CYO, initially at the house league level and has progressed to the AAA level. She is currently playing on the major bantam CYO AAA team. While playing at the atom level, Ali won silver at the Ontario Basketball Association Provincial Championship.

    For the past two years, Ali has been selected to play on the tri-county bantam development program and has been the recipient of a MVP for one of the games.

    Other awards that Ali has earned include two gold medals and two silver medals at the 3-On-3 Gus Maker Tournament in London.

    Ali has also been the county champion for the senior girls cross-country school team for the past two years at the BCESSA level. She has also played on the BCESSA senior girls volleyball team that won gold in 2003.

    While pursuing her sports interests, Ali is also succeeding at school - she is an honour roll student and has been a member of student council for the past two years.
