Brock Timmerman - December 4, 2008
Brock Timmerman is an active seven-year-old who has been a member of the Burford Youth Soccer League for 3 years, CYO Basketball for 3 years, the Brantford Track & Field Club for 1 year and the Brantford Aquatic Club for 1 year.
Brock participated in the Ontario Indoor Track and Field Championships at York University in March and broke the previous record in the mite division’s 400m event by 6.5 seconds. He also won the 200m race with a time of 34.80 (just one second off the record) and the long jump with a jump of 3.37 metres.
In May he set two more Ontario Track and Field records at a meet in Stouffville competing in the mite boys’ division winning the long jump (3.65 metres) and the 200m race. He also won the 100m race with a personal best of 15.94 seconds.
At a provincial qualifier in Brampton during the summer, Brock won gold in the 100m, gold in ball throw, gold in 400m, gold in 200m and gold in the standing long jump.
In October, he participated with his brother Mason (age 9) and sister Amy (age 10) for the Braemar House School cross country meet against 60 boys from grades 2, 3, and 4 and finished in 1st place.
The highlight of his x-country season was capturing the provincial championship title held in Burlington.
He also participated in the Brantford Classic Run 5km race finishing in 1st place and the Ancaster Old Mill 1km race winning 1st place honors.
Brock is a dedicated and hardworking grade 2 home schooled student who maintains good marks and hopes to continue breaking records next year in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races.
