Caitlin Wallace - June 2, 2005
At only nine years old, Caitlin Wallace is an accomplished hockey player who led her team in scoring this season with an incredible 73 goals in 74 games.
Caitlin, known as Wally to her friends, was assistant captain of the Brantford Ice Cats Atom B team, playing centre. She helped her team win a gold medal at the Ontario Women's Hockey Association Provincial Championships by scoring five goals in six games, including the game-winning goal to capture gold in double overtime.
Her team recently won the South Western Girls Hockey League Championships, winning eight playoff games straight. At the end of their regular season the Ice Cats record was 17 wins, 4 losses and 3 ties; they finished their season with an amazing 59 wins, 9 losses and 5 ties.
Caitlin helped her team repeat their success on the ice winning gold at the Kitchener, Brantford, Hamilton, Guelph, and Trenton tournaments and were finalists at the Whitby tournament losing in the final game by only one goal, winning silver. She was named MVP at the Kitchener, Brantford and Hamilton tournaments and in Trenton she was a member of the 3 on 3 team, that won gold.
She also played house league hockey for the Bisons Alumni team and helped them finish 2nd place overall. Caitlin has had a passion for hockey since she began skating at the age of three and her dream is to one-day play in the Olympics for the Canadian Women's Hockey team.
For the past four years, Caitlin has played basketball in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and has attended a summer basketball camp for the past three summers. Last summer, she played hockey on a 3-on-3 team and this summer has decided to try something new and is playing baseball for the first time with the Brantford Minor Baseball Association.
Caitlin is a well-rounded, competitive athlete who excels at virtually every sport she plays. She is a natural leader who supports, motivates, and encourages her teammates to be the best they can be.
Currently in grade 4 at St. Gabriel School, Caitlin is looking forward to participating in track and field and cross-country running. In her spare time Caitlin enjoys playing musical instruments, soccer, biking, and making crafts with her friends.
