Dustin Minns- September 22, 2005
Dustin Minns is a thirteen-year-old grade nine student at North Park Collegiate who is in the midst of his fourth season of football with the Brantford Bisons. He was recognized with the Best Offensive Player award for his efforts last season, and in 2003 received the Best Defensive Player trophy. He has proven himself to be a skilled player with a lot of heart and team spirit.
The 2004 football season was a busy one for Dustin, who played on both the offensive and defensive lines for most of the games, including one where he scored five touchdowns and received the offensive MVP on 'Brantford Day'. This season Dustin is looking forward to trying out for the North Park football team and hopefully winning a spot.
Dustin has be involved with the Brantford Intercity Soccer Club for the past six years, three in house league and three on a rep. team. He is currently a member of the U14 Elite division team and has won several trophies for the various tournaments that he has been involved in for both All Star and house league.
In 2004 Dustin competed at the Brant County track and field finals in the Intermediate Boys division triple jump, and finished in first place. In 2005 Dustin competed in several track and field events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, triple jump, high jump, and long jump at a school meet, finishing first in all events. He was also involved on his school's volleyball, badminton, and cross-country teams last year.
In 2003 and 2004 Dustin participating in a Teen Leadership and Volunteer Program at Shalom Village in Hamilton. He received certificates for his volunteer hours both summers and hopes to continue volunteering in the future.
Dustin is a good student and a focused athlete with dreams of playing sports at a professional level in the future.
