Hattie Osborne - November 20, 2008
Hattie Osborne is an eleven-year-old grade 6 student from Coronation Public School who has been actively involved in soccer, badminton, basketball, baseball, and track & field for 2 years. She has been involved in martial arts and weapons training for 1-½ years and has achieved a brown belt. She played on a Briers rep. basketball team; she was a member of the Brantford Bobcats Fast Pitch team, and a member of the Brant County badminton club.
Hattie has received several individual and team awards in a variety of sports. In 2007/08 at her school’s track and field meet she was 2nd in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m races; she was 3rd in the long jump and helped the 4 x 100 relay team finish 1st at the Brant County Regional Championships.
Hattie won gold at the 2007 Orland Harrison Jr. Badminton Under 12 B Division Mixed Doubles and silver in the Jr. Under 12 A Division Girls Doubles; she won gold at the 2008 Orland Harrison Jr. Badminton Under 12 A Division Girls Doubles and the Jr. Under 12 B Division Mixed Doubles. She also won gold at the Western Ontario Badminton Association Under 12 Girls Doubles and was the Brant County Elementary School Junior Girls Singles Gold Champion
In 2007 her Mite Fast Pitch team won gold at the Brantford Mite Worth Tournament; they won silver at the Brampton Blazers Invitational Fast Pitch Tournament; they won gold at the United States Fastball Association World Series Qualifier; they were the Grand Valley League Champions, and won bronze at the Provincial Women’s Softball Association Grand Championships.
In 2008 her Squirt Division Tier 11 Fast Pitch team won bronze at the Brantford Squirt Worth Tournament; they won gold at the Greg Bell/Adrian Lookouts Scholarship Classic Tournament in Adrian, Michigan; they were the Grand Valley League “B” Division Champions; they won gold at the Provincial Women’s Softball Association Qualifier, and finished 4th at the Provincial Women’s Softball Association Grand Championships.
She was the Junior Girls Camper of the Week at the 2007 Brantford Summer Basketball Camp and was the Briers Atom Girls rep team Most Valuable Player.
Hattie maintains an “A” average and enjoys all aspects of school; she received the 2005/06 Citizenship Award and the 2006/07 Academic Award.
In the future Hattie would like to pursue a graduate degree in law and become a lawyer. She hopes to continue her involved in a number of sports at a competitive level and works very hard to balance her academic and athletic lifestyle.
