Jaclyn Sless - May 8, 2008
Jaclyn Sless is a 13-year-old grade 8 student at James Hillier School who is actively involved in badminton, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track and field.
She is a provincially ranked badminton player and is an active member of the Brantford Junior Badminton Club. She is coached by Mrs. Edith Hayman, a nationally recognized badminton coach.
This year Jaclyn won the girls singles in the senior division of the city badminton tournament. She also successfully coached the junior division of the same tournament. Jaclyn has participated in city soccer for the past five years, and was the team leading scorer in most of those years.
She is the Spirit Captain at James Hillier School and usually takes a leading role in all school activities.
On April 5, Jaclyn was thrilled to participate in the Brantford Day at the Toronto Blue Jays game when she joined Brantford’s Lord Mayor Walter Gretzky throwing out the first pitch of the game in front of 36,000 fans, while representing her hometown of Brantford.
Jaclyn is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an 80% average. She will be attending Brantford Collegiate Institute this fall and hopes to remain involved in inter-collegiate sports and continue to maintain good grades.
Jaclyn hasn’t set a specific goal for herself after graduating from high school, however if she continues to attack life in the same manner that she does today, she will be very successful in whatever career she chooses in the future.
Congratulations Jacklyn and good luck.
