Jake Burleigh - December 13, 2007
Jake Burleigh is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from Paris District High School who is involved in several sports including basketball, volleyball, baseball, track and field, soccer and cross-country.
He began playing Briers rep. basketball in 1996, he got involved in soccer at the age of 5, he has been active in volleyball since 2004 and has been involved in cross country and track and field since elementary school.
Jake has received several individual and team awards over the years including the 2003 London NBA Hoop-It-Up Championships, the Camp Olympia Award in 2002, the Coaches Award in 2003, the Mr. Hustle award in 2004 and the Junior Boys Basketball MVP in 2005/06.
In 2005/06 his AAA volleyball team finished in 1st place at CWOSSA, in 2006/07 they finished in 2nd place, and in 2007/08 they finished in 1st place.
He helped his baseball team win the 2000 OASA Championships and in 2006/07 Paris District High School won the CWOSSA Championships. He was the PDHS Boys Cross-Country MVP and was 10 th in Brant County.
Jake won the PDHS Track Warriors Award in 2005/06, he won OFSAA high jump in 2005 to 2007, he won CWOSSA in the 1500m race in 2005/06 and won Brant County, CWOSSA and OFSAA awards in 2004 to 2007. He also won the Junior Boys Athlete of the Year in 2005/06.
Jake is a dedicated and hard working student who has consistently maintained good grades throughout his four years at high school. He also completed 60 hours of community service by volunteering at numerous sporting events.
Jake plans to further his education at college or university, he hopes to play varsity basketball and pursue a career in a field relating to the outdoor environment.
