Jasmine Sahota - July 8, 2010
Jasmine Sahota is an eighteen-year-old grade 12 student from Brantford Collegiate Institute (BCI) who participates in basketball, soccer, volleyball and badminton for her school.
She has been involved in soccer for 14 years, playing BICS rep soccer for several years and is the co-captain of the Under 18 girls’ squad this year. She started playing basketball at the age of five but focused more on soccer when she started high school.
Jasmine has received many awards over the years including the 2007 Athlete of the Year at BCI; she was the top scorer with 14 goals at the 2008 Double Nickel tournament, she received the 3D award for school soccer in 2010, and was a key member of the BCI girls soccer team that won the 2010 BCSAA championships.
Jasmine was actively involved in the community volunteering at the Brantford General Hospital, at the Brantford Classic Tournaments and helped with the Canadian Parents for French.
She is a dedicated and hard working student who maintains an 80% average and plans to continue to play soccer at the University of Ottawa, while majoring in political science in French immersion. In the future she hopes to pursue a career in the law and politics fields.
