Kacie Harrison - October 23, 2008
Kacie Harrison is an eleven-year-old grade 6 student from Russell Reid Coronation School who has been actively involved in softball fastpitch for 4 years, track and field for 2 years and girls hockey for 2 years.
During the summer of 2007 Kacie helped her Mite Girls All-Star fastpitch team win gold at the Mississauga North tournament, silver at the Brampton tournament, gold at the Brantford Worth tournament, gold at the Grand Valley League Mite Division regular season and bronze at the Mite Provincial
Championships. Kacie was the star catcher for the best pitcher in Ontario at the
2007 Mite Provincials held in Brantford. They worked hand in hand to strikeout 77 players in 5 games.
This summer Kacie was a member of the Squirt Girls All-Star fastpitch team that won bronze at the Brantford Worth Tournament. They were on target to win gold at the Toledo Independence Classic in Toledo, Ohio winning all 3 games during the weekend and allowing only 1 run to cross the plate. However, due to the severe weather that took place all weekend the tournament was cancelled and no medals were awarded.
Kacie’s team won gold at the Greg Bell/Adrian Lookouts Scholarship Classic tournament in Adrian, Michigan; they won gold in the "B" division at the Grand Valley League Squirt Division in Stratford; they won gold at the Tier II Provincial Qualifiers in Stratford, and they were the quarter finalists at the Provincial Women’s Softball Association Squirt Provincials held in Whitby.
Kacie has received many ribbons for track and field over the years and recently finished 1st in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, high jump and ball throw. She competed at the regional level held at Assumption College where she placed 1st in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and relay, and finished 2nd in the long jump. She competed at the county level and won a gold medal for the 200 meter run in just 33.5 seconds.
Kacie finished her first season of rep hockey at the Atom level and helped her team place 3rd for the season, they finished in 3rd place at the Walter Gretzky tournament and 3rd at the Hamilton all girls atom tournament. She is currently on her school’s softball team and hopes to participate in other school sports.
Kacie is a dedicated and hardworking A student who dreams of playing on a women’s professional hockey team or fastpitch team.
