Kelsey Cooper - March 26, 2009
Kelsey Cooper is an eleven-year-old grade 6 student from Mount Pleasant School who has been an active member of Brantford Youth Soccer since 2001. She helped her Under 9 Girls team sponsored by Beau & Sons Tree Service win the 2006 Playoff Championships.
Kelsey has also been an active member of D & D United Martial Arts since 2004 and has achieved her brown-stripe belt. In 2008, she placed 5th in the kids Advanced Weapons and a 5th in Forms at the Canadian Diamond Challenge; she finished 8th in Weapons and Forms in the Advanced belt 9-10 year olds at the Generation Martial Arts Championships; she was 10th in Weapons and 2nd in the 10 year Advanced Forms at the Power National Championships; and she was 10th in Weapons and finished 1st in Advanced belt 10 year old Forms at The Quest for Champions Tournament.
Kelsey worked hard in 2008 to improve her Weapons and Forms to be able to compete as a member of Team Canada at the 2009 International Congress of Martial Arts World Championships held from January 3 to 10, 2009 in Varadero, Cuba. Her hard work earned her a silver medal in the kid’s Traditional Forms.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains a B average and volunteers for the Martial Arts Amateur Athlete Fund.
Kelsey is looking forward to earning her junior black belt in 2010 so she can participate in leadership and be able to help teach martial arts to the younger students at D & D United.
