Kerri Taylor - December 9, 2004
Kerri Taylor a grade 10 student from Paris District High School began playing soccer eight years ago and continues her involvement today on both her high school and house league teams. She contributed to two winning seasons in 2002 and 2003, finishing first place overall.
Kerri has been involved in track and field since grade four and had the opportunity this past summer, to participate in the International Children's Games in Cleveland Ohio, where she competed in the 300 meter race and long jump. Kerri placed third in two events at BCSAA in 2004; one in the 300m hurdles, and the other in the 400m, and placed first and second qualifying her for CWOSSA.
Cross country is another one of Kerri's favourite sports, her team won the BCSSA midget girls championships in 2003, and won the BCSSA junior girls championships in 2004 placing second at CWOSSA qualifying them for OFSAA.
Kerri also participated in figure skating, and won a variety of medals at Club Competitions including the Hallwent and Reach for the Stars. Although she is not competing in figure skating any longer she helps teach CanSkate Figure Skating one night a week to beginners aged three to ten, and is member of the St. George ExpressFit Fitness Club.
She is also involved with the junior guidance council at her school, where they help organize volunteer and school activities such as the Angel Tree for the Children's Aid Society and the Christmas Dinner for Seniors. Kerri will be volunteering her time over the Christmas season helping to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
Kerri is a dedicated and hardworking student who excels academically, she had the second highest overall average for her grade nine class with a 96 per cent average, and her midterm average for this semester is 95%. Kerri's future goal is to continue participating in sports and one day attend university and major in English.
