Laurie Bowler - November 14, 2002
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Laurie Bowler a sixteen-year-old grade 11 student from Assumption College who excels in both soccer and hockey. Laurie plays in the Brantford Inter-City girl's soccer league and has won numerous awards including the 1999, 2000, and 2002 Players Choice award, the 2001 MVP award, and the 2001 Keeper Award. Laurie has been a member of the Assumption College soccer team for the past 2 years and won the 2002 MVP award.
Laurie also excels in hockey and again has won numerous awards including the 1998 MVP award, the 1999 PeeWee MVP award, the 2000 Most Enthusiastic award at the Silver Stick tournament and the 2002 Coaches award. She played for the Stoney Creek Sabres Midget AA team and was scouted for the Metro-Toronto hockey league.
Laurie attended several hockey schools where she won a power skating award, all-star award, MVP award, and the Can/Am Award of Excellence in Guelph. She played centre on the first Assumption College hockey team during the 2001-02 season, where she scored the first goal and is again playing centre this season.
