Lee Follis - November 15, 2007
Lee Follis is a fourteen-year-old grade 11 student at St. John’s College who excels in badminton and tennis. He has also been actively involved in other sports including basketball, curling, soccer, golf, and cross-country.
Lee has been an active member of the Brantford Junior Badminton Club for 6 years and participates in Ontario High Performance Badminton tournaments.
He has been a member of the Dufferin Tennis Club for 6 years and plays for his high school tennis team; he has been involved with CYO rep. basketball for 3 years; he played Brantford Youth Soccer; he is a member of his school’s curling team and enjoys playing golf at the Oaks of St. George.
Lee has received several badminton awards including the 2006/07 St. John’s College Athletic Award; the 2007 BCSSA and CWOSSA Boys singles Badminton awards; the 2007 Western Ontario Badminton Association Triple Crown winner (singles, doubles, mixed); the 2007 Brantford Orland Harrison tournament Triple Crown winner (singles, doubles, mixed); and participated in the 2007 Provincial and National Badminton Championships.
Lee has also achieved several tennis awards including the 2006/07 St. John’s College Junior Athletic award; the 2006 Dufferin Club Under 18 Junior Singles champion; the 2007 Dufferin Club Under 18 junior singles finalist; in 2007 he played for the St. John’s College senior boys tennis team and won BCSAA representing St. Johns Junior boys singles in 2006.
Lee is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains a 94% average. In grade 10 he had the highest mark in computer engineering and in grade 11 the highest mark in math and the highest mark for the Cayley Math Competition.
Lee is an assistant to the badminton coach in Cambridge and in the future hopes to obtain a combined academic and athletic scholarship.
