Logan White - May 27, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Logan White, a 12-year-old Grade 6 student at Banbury Heights.
For the past three years, Logan has played select basketball for the Brantford Briers. Two years ago the select team with which she played won division 2 at the Provincial Cup in Hamilton. Logan was awarded the tournament's Hustle Award.
During the past season, she was able to help her team place fourth in division 1 at the Provincial Cup in London. Logan was rewarded for her hard work in this tournament: she received the honour of becoming a member of the first all-star team.
Logan has also been playing softball for the Brantford Bobcats for the past two years. During her first season, she was the winning pitcher in the bronze final in Stratford at the Ontario Championships. Last season this terrific athlete finished the season with a batting average of 825, including 11 homeruns and a top pitching speed of 48 mph.
In the PWSA Provincial Championships tier 2, Logan was the winning pitcher in the bronze championship. She was aptly awarded the tournament MVP.
At school, Logan has played on the co-ed soccer and volleyball team. Other sports that she been involved with at school include baseball, basketball, and track and field. During last year's school meet, Logan finished first in the 100-metre, 200-metre, and long jump. At the county championship, she arrived in second place in the long jump event and in the 200-metre.
