Martin Niejadlik - February 5, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Martin Niejadlik, a 16-year-old, grade 11 Assumption College student.
Martin has been playing tennis since the age of seven. He was taught and coached by his father, a self-taught tennis player. Martin is currently involved with the Dufferin Tennis Club in Brantford, where he worked as a supervisor during the summer and had occasion to play five times a week, for one to two hours each day.
Martin has been to tournaments out-of-town in cities such as Guelph, Kitchener, and Sarnia. He won the junior boys singles finalist trophy in 2000 and placed second in the 10th Annual Canadian Polish Championships in 1999. This great athlete has also won other trophies and medals for doubles and singles in the junior division.
In 2003, Martin was a member of Assumption College's Senior Tennis Club. He was the single boys champion and went on to compete at CWOSSA.
Although he plans to continue playing tennis throughout this life, Martin is an avid motorcyclist and hopes to form his future around motorcycles.
Congratulations Martin. |
