Megan McComb - December 17, 2009
Megan McComb is a fifteen year old grade 10 student from Paris District High School who participates in track and field, cross country, volleyball, soccer and swimming
She has been participating in track & field since grade 4 and has been a member of the Laurel Creek Track Club in Kitchener/Waterloo since May 2009. She has been involved in league and rep volleyball since she was 12; cross country since grade 4 and has been swimming since an early age.
Megan will be competing at the 2010 Provincial Volleyball Championships in Waterloo and the 2010 National Volleyball Championships held in Calgary, Alberta with the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators U-16 Volleyball team.
She has received numerous individual and team awards over the years including a 1st place in the 800m & 3000m races at the 2009 Brant County Midget Girls Track & Field meet and 3rd in the 1500m. She finished 4th in the 3000m at CWOSSA which qualified her for West Regionals OFSSA. She placed 3rd at the 2008 Brant County Midget Girls Cross Country meet and was 15th at CWOSSA. She finished 1st at the 2009 Brant County Junior Girls Cross Country meet and was 7th at CWOSSA.
Megan helped her team win a silver medal at the 2008/09 OVA Volleyball (U-15) Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Provincial Championships Division 2 Tier 1.
She has completed her Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and Red Cross Assistant Water Instructor. She was the Female Athlete of the Year in grade 8; the 2008/2009 Junior Athlete of the Year at PDHS; the 2008/2009 Cross Country Rookie of the Year; she helped the PDHS Junior Girls Volleyball team finish in 2nd place for Brant County and competed at CWOSSA.
Megan is a member of her school’s athletic council and volunteers at school and OVA tournaments. She volunteered at the Paris community pool in 2007 & 2008 as a lifeguard in training.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an 80% average. She plans to continue her education at University and study physiotherapy or a sports related field. She is striving to obtain a scholarship for running or volleyball and would like to continue to compete in running and or volleyball at the University level. She is also planning on completing her National Lifeguard Service as well as her Red Cross Instructor course.
