Mitchell Santilli - March 3, 2005
Mitchell Santilli is a grade four student at Resurrection School who enjoys playing sports year round. He has been playing soccer since he was four years old and presently plays forward or centre mid-field on a Brantford Minor Soccer house league team.
Mitchell has been playing basketball since he was six years old in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO); he plays house league and for the past two years has been on a novice AAA team. Last year his team placed 4th at the Ontario Basketball Championships.
He was a member of a 3-on-3-basketball team that won last summer's Gus Maker 3-on-3 Tournament in London. This year, Mitchell is excited to be the point guard for his team, and at a recent Waterloo tournament won the MVP award.
Mitchell has also been involved with the Brantford Bison's football team as a running back and corner linebacker for the past three years, and this past season, was thrilled to receive the Bison's offensive award at their year-end banquet. In 2003, Mitchell's myte team had an undefeated season with 13 wins and 1 tie and went on to become the Southern Ontario champions. During Mitchell's first year with Bison's football he received the Rookie of the Year award.
Hockey is another sport that this nine year old enjoys, and has been playing since he was five years old. This year, Mitchell is a member of the 99er's Novice A travel team, playing centre. At a recent tournament in Preston, Mitchell was thrilled to be selected for the All-Star team that was coached by Walter Gretzky.
Mitchell is a well-rounded athlete who excels at many sports and is a hardworking student who maintains a high average. He has made many friends through sports and appreciates all the help he has received from his coaches. When he's not playing sports, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
