Nicholas Minutillo - August 26, 2010
Nicholas Minutillo is a sixteen year old who will be entering grade 11 at North Park Collegiate this September. He has been playing basketball for 11 years, soccer for 7 years at the house league level, football for 5 years and rugby for 2 years.
He participated in CYO house league basketball at the age of five, he started rep basketball at the age of 8, he continues to play rep basketball with CYO and has made positive contributions to all of his teams.
Over the years Nick has received several individual awards including All star selection at Olympia Basketball Camp in 2007, Brantford Basketball Camp Camper of the Week in 2005, Ottawa Tournament all star team selection in 2007 and several MVP and Hustle awards at various tournaments. Nick played junior basketball at North Park and helped his team win the Junior Boys CWOSSA Championship in 2009.
He played football for the Brantford Bisons football organization at the rep, peewee and junior varsity levels for four seasons and high school for two years. He played defense his first year and won Rookie of the Year honors in 2006. Nick demonstrated his offensive skills as a receiver and won the Bison Leadership award in 2007. The following year he played peewee varsity and was one of the top five receivers in the league and was awarded the Offensive MVP 2008. He played Junior varsity in the spring of 2008 and was quarterback for the North Park Trojans and won the Offensive MVP award in 2008 and 2009.
Nick played junior rugby at North Park for the first time in grade 9 where he quickly picked up the game and won MVP at the forward position the following year in 2010.
Nick has accumulated over 100 hours volunteering as a basketball referee at CYO and Brantford Basketball Camp, helping to coach Bison football at the atom level and instructing at North Park's grade 8 football camps. He has worked as a basketball counselor and scorekeeper and was selected to attend the HOBI leadership workshop as one of North Park's grade ten representatives.
Nick was the recipient of the Junior Male Athlete of the year at North Park in 2010, he won the Athlete of the Year award at his grade 8 graduation from Braemar House School in 2008 and the All Around Proficiency Award.
Nick was selected by his elementary school to attend the OELC (Ontario Educational Leadership Camp) in the summer of 2007 and refined his organizational and leadership skills which he used when he returned to Braemar House School.
Nick had an average of 85% in grade ten and in the future would like to study math or science and play basketball or football at the university level. He would like to thank his parents for their support and all of his coaches for their time and effort in helping him to achieve his goals.
