Olivia McAllister - September 13, 2007
Olivia McAllister is a 14-year-old grade 10 student from Assumption College who participates in several sports including basketball, soccer since 1997, volleyball since 2005, track and field since 2001 and rugby in 2007.
Olivia started playing basketball with the CYO organization in 1998 playing on the travel teams and was a member of the Assumption Junior Basketball last season.
In the off season she plays for the Kitchener Waterloo Lightning basketball team and helped them qualify for the 2007 US National Girls Basketball Championships in Virginia after winning the Super Regionals in NY state. This summer she traveled to Halifax for the 2007 Eastern Canadian Championships, Hoops for Hope tournament and brought home the gold.
She has been a member of the Brantford Youth Soccer League, the Burford Youth Soccer League and the Brantford Youth Volleyball Club.
Olivia has received several individual athletic awards including the Junior Basketball MVP award, the Junior Volleyball MVP award, the Junior Rugby MVP award, and the 2007 Junior Female Athlete of the Year for Assumption College. She also won the Miss Olympia for basketball at Olympia Sports Camp in 2005 and helped her team capture the 2005 Olympia Spring Classic Basketball Championships. She won the London Titans Coaches Award in All-star basketball in 2007.
Olivia was a member of her school’s midget girls track and field team that finished 2nd in the 4 x 100 relay at BCSSA and qualified for CWOSSA where they placed 7 th overall. She contributed to the success of her all-star volleyball team finishing 3 rd in 2006, and helped her all-star basketball team win several 1 st, 2nd and 3rd place awards.
She helped with the 2007 CWOSSA volleyball tournament hosted by Assumption, she helped prepare for her school’s elimination draw, she is a referee for the CYO basketball novice girls house league, and keeps score for the novice girls and boys all-star games.
Olivia is a dedicated and hardworking student who achieved a 90% overall average in grade 9; she enjoys science, English, math and phys. Ed.
Olivia would like to pursue sciences at University and hopes to achieve the athletic goals she has set for herself.
