Olivia Peicu - July 29, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Olivia Peicu, an 18-year-old graduate of Assumption College School who will be studying science at McMaster University in the fall.
Olivia graduated from high school with a 93.5 per cent grade average and, after completing her degree at McMaster University, she plans to pursue a career as a pharmacist. Aside from achieving terrific grades in her academics, Olivia has also participated in many sports during high school.
In Grade 9 and 10, she was on the Assumption rugby team; in Grade 10 she belonged to the volleyball team, and in Grade 12 Olivia played mixed doubles on the badminton team.
Olivia also participated in track and field where, in Grade 9, she placed third in high jump and third in triple jump. For five years this athlete was also a member of the CYO girls basketball team.
Olivia has participated in a number of school clubs namely the yearbook committee, the art club, theatre prop preparation, and the pride committee. She has also dedicated many hours of her free time to volunteering. She has given time to the following causes: the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, her churchs Sunday school, the John Noble Home fashion show, and Valentine's outreach program.
Working towards her goal to become a pharmacist, this young lady has been volunteering at a local pharmacy as a pharmacists assistant to accumulate experience.
