Paul Szczechura - November 21, 2002
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Paul Szczechura a 16 year old grade 12 student from North Park Collegiate who is a member of the Brantford Golden Eagles Jr. B Hockey Club. Paul is a graduate of the Brantford Minor Hockey Association where he played in many tournaments such as the Quebec Major Pee Wee tournament and several others in Europe.
In 2001 Paul was the leading scorer for the Brantford Golden Eagles Jr. B Hockey Club and received the Rookie of the Year Award. This season Paul is currently the scoring leader in the Mid Western Jr. B. Hockey League with 22 goals, 36 assists and 58 points. In October he was chosen the Player of the Week and the Player of the Month.
Paul was drafted by the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts in 2001 and has accepted an athletic scholarship at Western Michigan University where he will play hockey next fall.
