Rachel Colby - February 18, 2010
Rachel Colby is a sixteen year old grade 11 student from Pauline Johnson Vocational School who has been involved in basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, bowling, baseball and badminton.
She played basketball as a point guard for 10 years, 6 years with Briers including two in rep, and is a member of her school’s basketball team.
Rachel played soccer as an outside right midfielder for 10 years, 5 years house league, 5 years rep M.J., 4 years indoor and is a member of her school’s soccer team. She was involved in bowling for 6 years, two on a travel team.
She played volleyball for 6 years, house league for 2 years and is a member of her school’s team. She was also involved in track and field for 6 years.
Rachel has received several individual and team awards including the Most Dedicated Player for soccer this year, she won the Heart and Hustle for school basketball 2 years ago, and was captain of her school’s basketball team in grades 9 and 10. She was also captain of her grade 8 basketball and volleyball teams.
She won five 1st place, three 2nd place, and four 3rd place ribbons in the 100m 200m relay long jump and high jump. She participated in baseball for 4 years at elementary school; she was involved in badminton doubles winning 2nd place and 3rd place awards, and played flag football for 2 years
Rachel is a member of her school’s athletic council and ministry of fun; she helped out with the grade 8 days / nights for the past 2 years; she volunteers at a variety of school sports events at school and is a coach for the indoor soccer league.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains high marks. She enjoys sciences and hopes to pursue a career as x-ray technician, a nutritionist or dental hygienist and play soccer at the varsity level.
