Scott Hutchinson - November 18, 2004
This week's TCO Athlete of the Week is Scott Hutchinson.
Scott Hutchinson has been involved in sports for many years, starting back in 1994 with the Paris Soccer Club. He played both rep and house league for the club until 2003, and he was a former member of the Woodstock Gymnastic Club's Provincial Men's team.
Today, Scott is focused on track and field, with many medals and records under his belt since he first started. He is on the Paris District High School's cross-country team and has been training with the Brantford Track and Field Club since 2003.
Scott has claimed five titles since August of this year, including; Central Western Ontario Secondary School Athletics midget boys cross-country champion (October), Brant County Secondary School Athletics midget boys cross-country champion (October), cross-country junior high champion at the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester New York (October), first place in his age group at the St. Catherines Run for the Grapes 5km road race (September), and Scott also represented Brantford at the International Children's Games in Cleveland, Ohio (August).
He holds numerous records from when he participated in the Thames Valley District School Board's track and field championships, including the fastest time for the 2004 Open Boys 800 meter.
Not one to sit idle, Scott finds time to be a member of the Richwood/Drumbo United Church's youth group, practices martial arts with the United Family Martial Arts club and enjoys helping out with refereeing and coaching.
He's an excellent student with an 'A' average, and winner of both the Frank Leuszler and Fred Shoemaker awards in grade eight. He is working towards continuing his athletic and academic success in university one day.
Congratulations Scott, and good luck! |
