Stephanie Grime - July 7, 2005
Stephanie Grime has been involved in both basketball and soccer for the past 11 years. She started playing house league soccer with the Brantford Youth Soccer League when she was only four years old and at the age of nine she played on her first All Star team. She's been one of the top-five leading scorers for the past four seasons, and has received the All Star MVP award twice.
Stephanie helped her soccer house league team win the championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. Stephanie's All Star team was tournament champions in 1998 and playoff finalists in 2000. She helped them win first, second and third place trophies in the past five years. She loves the sport of soccer and her dream is to someday play for the Canadian Women's Soccer team.
Basketball is another sport that this 14-year-old athlete really enjoys; she started playing when she was only four years old on a Briers Basketball team and made the All Star team when she was nine. After playing on the Brier's All Star team for two years, she decided to play for the Cambridge Centaurs All Star team. During her second season with the team, Stephanie contributed to their first Ontario Basketball Association Championship gold medal, and in 2004, was scouted by the Ancaster Magic.
After talking to the coach, Stephanie decided to play for the Ancaster Magic during the 2004/05 season. Her new team had a successful season and at the annual Ottawa tournament this past March, she was thrilled to receive the Toronto Raptors Sportsmanship Award. She plans to return to Ancaster for the 2005/06 season.
Stephanie also enjoys participating in dance and recently switched from tap dancing to hip-hop dancing classes. She has been taking voice lessons for a few years and was successful at the Kiwanis Music Festival bringing home several first place awards, over the past three years.
Stephanie is a recent graduate of Prince Charles School where she maintained an 80 per cent average. This summer she plans to get her soccer-coaching certificate and in the fall she is looking forward to attending North Park Collegiate where she plans to try out for the school's soccer and basketball teams. Stephanie's future goals include attending college or university and becoming a Kindergarten teacher.
Congratulations Stephanie, and good luck! |
