Steven Baxter - April 18, 2002
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Steven Baxter a 12 year-old grade six student from Coronation School who excels in several different sports. Steven has won over 97 different trophies, medals, plaques, ribbons and rings and values the St. Pius Sportsmanship trophies that he was awarded in 2 consecutive years, while playing novice and atom hockey. Steven has competed across the province at track meets, with all-star hockey playing defence, with all-star AA basketball playing forward, and with his inter-city rep. soccer club. He helped his soccer team progress from the First division two years ago to the Premier division last year and has earned a spot in the Elite division this year.
Steven represented his school in track and field last year and won the County Championships in 100m, 200m, and the long jump. He also won the Brant County public school cross-country race last fall, for the second year in a row.
Steven was selected to read his essay on Drug Abuse and Resistance to Coronation's graduating class of the D.A.R.E. program. Steven's unselfish team spirit is one of his greatest assets.
