This was a qualifying meet for the top 10 and under swimmers from across Canada and the US. In July Tanner participated in the Ontario Open Water Championships, swimming the 3 km portion and won a bronze medal in the 12-13 boys category with a time of 42 minutes and 37seconds. This was the first time he swam in open water.
Tanner’s dedication to swimming is quite evident, last year he was in the pool training six times a week, two hours per day, including dry land training with many early morning practices.
He has the same dedication to his studies and has achieved an 80 to 92% grade average. He enjoys history and geography and would like to further his education in those fields.
In the future he hopes to get a scholarship to university for swimming and one day make the Canadian National swim team.
Congratulations Tanner and good luck.
