Tyler Beedham - June 17, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Tyler Beedham, a 15-year-old Grade 10 student at Paris District High School (PDHS).
Tyler is an avid cross country competitor - the 2003 school year saw him as a member of the PDHS midget boys cross country team. They won the county competition, CWOSSA and advanced to OFSSA. This year, he was a member of the junior team and they were BCSSA champions.
This terrific athlete became a member of the PDHS wrestling team. Grade 9 was his first year participating in the sport and he faired very well, qualifying for CWOSSA at the 47 kg level. This year he wrestled in the 51 kg division and won CWOSSA and advanced to OFSSA where he won one match and lost two.
Tyler has always been a key member of the various soccer teams on which he has played. He has played in the Paris Soccer Club since he was six years old during which time he has been a member of many teams that have won league or playoff championships. He even referees in the St. George Soccer Association.
Bowling was another passion for Tyler - he has bowled for two years with many wins and championship titles.
Tyler is a well-rounded athlete who has won a variety of awards and championships. Last year he earned the Grade 9 male Athlete of the Year award, while also receiving his red letter A. Most recently he was awarded the junior male athlete of the year and the most dedicated cross-country participant award.
